Evolution News & Views is doing a nice job of keeping in step with the debate raging in Texas right now.  Eugenie Scott and friends are busy with their typical defense of Darwinism which includes the time-tested tactic of ….strawman.  Eugenie seems very smug and comfortable as she unabashedly defends “fudging” science drawings, so it should come as no surprise that she can offer this type of defense. Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion–a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit in this one complaint. . . the literalists [i.e., creationists] are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion.
